On Tuesday 18 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received a call from the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Ma Zhaoxu, and Mrs Yu Xiaoming.

On Monday 17 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received from Her Excellency Ms Zanele Mdluli, Letters of Commission accrediting her as the High Commissioner for the Kingdom of Swaziland.

Afterwards, at Bridges House, Duntroon, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended an afternoon tea hosted in their honour by the Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC.

Address-in-Reply

The Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for Members of the House of Representatives, at which the Governor-General received the Address-in-Reply from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Bronwyn Bishop MP.

Opening of the Margaret Olley Art Centre

On Saturday 15 March 2014, at the Tweed Regional Gallery, Murwillumbah, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Gallery Director, Ms Susi Muddiman; Mayor of the Tweed Shire Council, Councillor Barry Longland; and the Gallery’s Architect, Mr Bud Brannigan, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the Margaret Olley Art Centre and delivered the keynote address.

Farewell call

On Friday 14 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury (Retd).

Federal Executive Council; Farewell call; Book launch

On Thursday 13 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, His Excellency Mr Pedro Pablo Diaz.

Later, at the National Library of Australia, the Governor-General, as guest of the Director-General, Ms Anne-Marie Schwirtlich, officially launched the book ‘Links in the chain: A Pioneer’s Tale’ by Ms Caroline Cooper MVO.
