Federal Executive Council; Farewell call; Book launch

On Thursday 13 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, His Excellency Mr Pedro Pablo Diaz.

Later, at the National Library of Australia, the Governor-General, as guest of the Director-General, Ms Anne-Marie Schwirtlich, officially launched the book ‘Links in the chain: A Pioneer’s Tale’ by Ms Caroline Cooper MVO.

Award presentations; Farewell reception for the Diplomatic Corps

On Thursday 6 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the Mayor of the Lockyer Regional Council, Councillor Steve Jones AM.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the State Commissioner of the ACT Girls’ Brigade, Ms Marian Ashford, and the ACT Queen’s Award Coordinator, Ms Melissa Moglia. The Governor-General presented the Queen’s Award to Ms Rhonda Offler, who was accompanied by Mr Owen Offler, Ms Elizabeth Offler, and Mr Michael Hunter.

High Court dinner

On Wednesday 5 March 2014, at the High Court of Australia, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a dinner hosted in their honour by the Chief Justice, the Honourable Chief Justice Robert French AC.

Melbourne visit

On Tuesday 4 March 2014, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of Board Member for UN Women Australia, Ms Elizabeth Shaw, attended an International Women’s Day breakfast.

Afterwards, at Victoria Harbour, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, presented the Unit Citation for Gallantry to HMAS Yarra (II).

At the St Kilda Road Campus of Wesley College, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the new Moubray Street Arts and Music Precinct.
