St James Ethic Centre

In Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chair, Mr Peter Joseph AM and Executive Director, Dr Simon Longstaff AO, attended a reception at which the Governor-General, as Patron, officially opened the new St James Ethic Centre.

On Wednesday 20 November 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the Australian High Commissioner to Canada, Ms Louise Hand PSM.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Oxford, Dame Valerie Beral AC DBE.

Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to Serbia, Montenegro, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Ms Julia Feeney.

Credentials ceremony; Institute of Public Administration Australia reception

On Tuesday 19 November 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO received from His Excellency Mr Harry Nawbatt, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a reception for representatives, speakers and dignitaries attending the Institute of Public Administration Australia’s annual national conference.

Earlier, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, hosted a morning tea for Regional Arts Australia.

On Friday 15 November 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Patron, received the Director of Monash University’s Gender, Leadership and Social Sustainability Research Institute, Professor Margaret Alston OAM.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Her Excellency Mrs Belen Anota, to convey her condolences to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

Visit to Norfolk Island

On Thursday 14 November 2013, on Norfolk Island, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, accompanied by the Administrator of Norfolk Island, the Honourable Neil Pope, and Mrs Jenny Pope; and as guest of the Speaker of the Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly, the Honourable David Buffet AM MLA, visited the Kingston and Arthur Vale Historic Area.

Afterwards, at the Norfolk Island Returned and Services League Club, the Governor-General, as guest of the President of the RSL Sub-Branch, Mr Wal Finch, attended a morning tea with members and community volunteers.
