Visit to Norfolk Island

On Wednesday 13 November 2013, at Norfolk Island Airport, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was officially welcomed by the Administrator of Norfolk Island, the Honourable Neil Pope and Mrs Jenny Pope; the Chief Minister, the Honourable Lisle Snell MLA; and the Speaker of Legislative Assembly, the Honourable David Buffet AM MLA.

Afterwards, at Government House, Norfolk Island, the Governor-General attended an afternoon tea with members of the Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly.

At Government House, Norfolk Island, the Governor-General attended an afternoon tea with members of the Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly.

Later, at the Norfolk Island Hospital and Aged Care Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Community Services, the Honourable Robin Adams MLA, and Hospital Director, Ms Julie Morrison, met with staff, residents and patients.

Opening of Parliament

On Tuesday 12 November 2013, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the First Session of the Forty-Fourth Commonwealth Parliament, at which the Governor-General opened the session and addressed the Parliament.

Remembrance Day

On Monday 11 November 2013, at the Australian War Memorial, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chair of the Council of the Australian War Memorial, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Ret’d), attended the Remembrance Day Service at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, His Excellency Major General Martyn Dunne (Ret’d).

Dedication Ceremony of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial

On Sunday 10 November 2013, at the Torrens Parade ground, Adelaide, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the dedication ceremony of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial, at which the Governor-General addressed the audience and officially unveiled the dedication plaque.
