Governor-General visits Napranum

In Napranum, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a community briefing hosted by Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council Councillor Ernest Madua Jnr, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Margaret Adidi and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Amos Njaramba.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Ms Sonia Schuh, visited the Napranum Kindergarten and Childcare Centre and attended a performance by the children.

Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, met with residents at the Napranum Aged Care Facility.

Governor-General visits Weipa and presides over Citizenship Ceremony

In Weipa, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of General Manager, Mr Gareth Manderson, visited the Rio Tinto Alcan mine and met with participants of the Indigenous Traineeship program.

In the evening, at Weipa Cultural Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chair of the Weipa Town Authority, Mr Peter McCulkin, attended a community reception at which, the Governor-General, presided at a Citizenship Ceremony.

Visit to Lockhart River

On Sunday 28 July 2013, at St James Anglican Church, Lockhart River, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guest of Father Brian Claudie, attended a morning Church service.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Father Claudie and women elders, attended a morning tea with the Mother's Union and Church congregation.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of clinical nurse consultant, Ms Sonja Brady, visited the Lockhart River Health Care Clinic.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Artistic Director, Ms Robbi Neal, met with artists at the Lockhart River Art Centre.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by Indigenous Elders, visited the Traditional Lands of Kuuku Ya'u, Chili Beach and Portland Roads.

On Saturday 27 July 2013, at the Puuya Centre, Lockhart River, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chair of the Puuya Foundation, Ms Dottie Hobson, and CEO Ms Denise Hagan, attended an afternoon tea and 'learning circle' with Puuya Foundation members and the Lockhart River Aboriginal Shire Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce undertook an orientation of Lockhart River and assisted with preparations for a community dinner.

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE arrived in Lockhart River, Queensland, and were welcomed by the Chair of the Puuya Foundation, Ms Dottie Hobson, and CEO Ms Denise Hagan.

Later, Ms Bryce, as Patron of the Puuya Foundation, and Mr Bryce attended an afternoon tea and 'learning circle' with Puuya Foundation members and the Lockhart River Aboriginal Shire Council.

In Lockhart River, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE met local residents while assisting with the preparations for a community dinner.

Later at the dinner, Ms Bryce received a traditional welcome and, as Patron, presented the Puuya Foundation Achievement awards at the Lockhart River Community Hall.

Visit to Townsville

On Friday 26 July 2013, at the Salt Cellar Restaurant, Townsville, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guest of the Chair of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Ms Jennifer Bott AO and Artistic Director Mr Piers Lane AO, attended a lunch for the AFCM’s Chairman’s Circle
