Swearing-in ceremony of new Senators

On Monday 4 July 2011, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the oath or affirmation of allegiance to Senators elected to serve in the Senate from 1 July 2011.

In the afternoon, at Government House, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, received the incoming Chief of the Australian Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr Peter Varghese AO.

12th Aberdeen Highland Games

On Saturday 2 July 2011, at Aberdeen, New South Wales, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Chieftain, officially opened the 12th Aberdeen Highland Games.

In the evening, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Marcus Stephen MP, by Group Captain Guy Burton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Tuesday 28 June 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received Senator the Honourable Judith Troeth.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Hungary, Mr John Griffin.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, received Chairman, Professor Ross Chambers; Executive Director, Reverend Professor James Haire AM; and Board Member, Lieutenant General John Sanderson AC (Retd).

On Monday 27 June 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Ambassador-designate to the People’s Republic of China, Ms Frances Adamson.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr Albert Chua.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Director-General of the National Gallery of Australia, Ms Anne-Marie Schwirtlich.
