On Tuesday 7 June 2011, at St James Church, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended a Memorial Service for Dr George (Rowan) Nicks AO OBE.

Afterwards, at the Office of the Governor, Sydney, the Administrator received Professor Beverley Raphael, who stayed on for lunch.

Conzano Community Welcome in recognition of the strong links to Australia

On Sunday 5 June 2011, in Conzano, Italy, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE as guests of the Mayor of Conzano, Mr Emanuele Demaria, attended a community welcome function.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Mayor of Conzano, unveiled a plaque in memory of Giuseppe Cantamessa who emigrated from Conzano to Ingham in 1907 and made a significant contribution to Australian society.

On Saturday 4 June 2011, in Reggio Emilia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Mayor of Reggio Emilia, Mr Graziano Delrio, visited the Reggio Emilia Town Hall and Tricolore Museum in recognition of the 150th Anniversary of Italian Unity.

Afterwards at the Quirinal Palace, Rome, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, met with the President of the Italian Republic, His Excellency Mr Georgio Napolitano.

On Tuesday 31 May 2011, at the Supreme Court of New South Wales Banco Court, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended a farewell ceremony for the Chief Justice of New South Wales, the Honourable Justice James Spigelman AC QC.

Afterwards, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator, as Patron, launched the New South Wales Police Legacy Child Safety Handbook.

On Monday 30 May 2011, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE received the Australian High Commissioner to Cyprus, Mr Evan Williams.

Afterwards, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas received the President of the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency Mr Demetris Christofias and Mrs Elisavet Christofia.
