Later, at the University of Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the new Sydney Law School Building.

On Wednesday 29 April 2009 at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted an Investiture Ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested Mrs Faith Bandler AC with the insignia of a Companion of the Order of Australia.

Afterwards, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the launch of the Salvation Army's 2009 Red Shield Appeal luncheon at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of Life Education Australia, Mr Jay Bacik.

On Thursday 23 April 2009 at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Khalid Bin Hashil Bin Mohammed Al-Muslahi, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Hamed Al-Hajri (Consul-General) from the Consulate-General of the Sultanate of Oman in Melbourne.
