On Tuesday 22 July 2008, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery commenced an official visit to Queensland.

On Sunday 20 July 2008, at Royal Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the World Youth Day Papal Mass.

On Saturday 19 July 2008, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC was represented at the arrival in Australia of the Governor-General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Nathaniel Waena GCMG CSI, by Commander Piers S.N.D. Chatterton RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Friday 18 July 2008, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Chairman, Foodbank Australia Limited, Mr Enzo Allara and the Chief Executive Officer, Foodbank Australia Limited, Ms Bronwyn Boekenstein.
