On Monday 4 August 2008, in the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, at the Hohola Youth Development Centre, Port Moresby, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General unveiled a plaque and officially opened the centre's new classroom facilities.

On Sunday 3 August 2008, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery departed the Kingdom of Tonga on an official visit to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

On Thursday 31 July 2008, at Town Hall House, Sydney, the Administrator, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as guest of the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore MP, attended a reception and, as Patron, delivered an address in support of Macquarie 2010.

On Wednesday 30 July 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

On Tuesday 29 July 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Special Minister of State and Cabinet Secretary, Senator the Honourable John Faulkner.

On Monday 28 July 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Australian Ambassador designate to the Argentine Republic, Mr John Richardson.

On Saturday 26 July 2008, at Sydney Opera House, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Australia, His Excellency Mr Yuval Rotem and Mrs Miri Rotem, attended a performance by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
