On Tuesday 20 May 2008, at the Northern Territory Emergency Response Operations Centre, Darwin, Northern Territory, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of the Chairperson, Dr Sue Gordon AM, and the Operational Commander, Major General Dave Chalmers AO CSC, received a briefing on the Inter-Agency Northern Territory Emergency Response Task Force.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Secretary, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Mr Terry Moran AO.

On Monday 19 May 2008, at the Mantra on the Esplanade, Darwin, Northern Territory, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Chief Executive Officer and Director, Sports Challenge Australia, Dr Garry Tester, accompanied by Fellow Director, Miss Jennifer Clay.

On Saturday 17 May 2008, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, commenced an official visit to the Northern Territory. Their Excellencies, as guests of the traditional owners and Anindilyakwa Land Council, Groote Eylandt, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the Dugong Beach Resort.

On Friday 16 May 2008, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Mr Cho Chang-Beom, and Mrs Cho Eun-Sook.

On Thursday 15 May 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

On Wednesday 14 May 2008, at Mt Pleasant, Canberra, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the Coral Artillery Memorial Service, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, presented the honour title Coral to 102nd Field Battery, Royal Australian Artillery, and laid a wreath.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador-designate to the Union of Myanmar, Ms Michelle Chan.

On Tuesday 13 May 2008, at the Australian Vietnam National Forces Memorial, Canberra, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the 40th Anniversary of Coral/Balmoral Remembrance Service, at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

On Monday 12 May 2008, at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney NSW, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the opening of the Future Summit 2008 at which the Governor-General delivered the opening address.
