On Thursday, 30 August 2007, at Government House, Brisbane, following the departure from Australia of the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC on an official visit to Malaysia to attend the 50th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations in Kuala Lumpur, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Queensland, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC.

On Wednesday, 22 August 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
