Open Days

Crowds enjoying the Government House Open Day

The Government House Open Day will be postponed to Saturday 12 November from 10am – 2pm.

The event has been rescheduled due to anticipated wet weather – compounding existing wet conditions on the grounds and on Dunrossil Drive. It will be the first Open Day held since early 2019.

This year’s Open Day seeks to recognise the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty stayed at Government House on 14 occasions, and the Open Day is an opportunity to celebrate her connection with Canberra and communities across Australia

Over 5000 people are expected to attend the Open Day, see one of Canberra‘s most iconic residences and explore the beautiful gardens. In addition, the Governor-General’s patronages – supporting arts and culture, health and welfare, young Australians and veterans – will have displays and demonstrations on the day. Members of Canberra’s diplomatic community will also be in attendance and there will be live performances.

Entry is free, and visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, with food and non-alcoholic drinks available to purchase from food vendors.

Details will be published on www.gg.gov.au in coming weeks.
