On Wednesday 24 October 2018, at Government House Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Letters of Credence from His Excellency El Hacen Eleyatt accrediting him as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a welcome home reception for the 2018 Australian Rowing Team, who recently competed in the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria.

On Tuesday 23 October 2018, in Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied the Crown Prince of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Frederik, to Sydney Olympic Park to watch the Invictus Games.

Afterwards, at the Aquatic Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, Their Excellencies attended the swimming heats, as guests of Mr James Brown, Board Director, Invictus Games.

On Monday 22 October 2018, at Quay Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, watched the indoor rowing competition, and presented medals for the women’s indoor rowing four-minute endurance event. The Governor-General presented the silver medal to Ms Tiff White, and Lady Cosgrove presented the bronze medal to Ms Sarah Petchell, with both athletes representing Australia.

On Sunday 21 October 2018, at Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the cycling time trials, as guests of Ms Renee Wilson, Board Director, Invictus Games.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies met with the President of the Republic of Estonia, Her Excellency, Ms Kersti Kaljulaid and watched the Hansa dinghy sailing competition.

On Saturday 20 October 2018, at Victoria Barracks, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the inaugural Military International Drone Racing Tournament, as guests of Major General Kathryn Toohey AM CSC, Head of Land Capability, Australian Army.

On Friday 19 October 2018, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), was represented for the arrival to Australia of Her Excellency Ms Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia, by Mr Paul Singer MVO, Acting Official Secretary.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Melbourne Grammar Grimwade House, VIC; and St Finbarr’s Primary School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Thursday 18 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Ambassador-designate, to the Republic of Peru, for a pre-posting call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Matt Linnegar, CEO, Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, attended the graduation ceremony for the 2018 Australian Rural Leadership cohort, at QT Canberra.

On Wednesday 17 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Mr Glenn Miles, Ambassador-designate, to the Arab Republic of Egypt, for a pre-posting call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, received MAJGEN Stephen Day DSC AM, Coordinator General, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, for an update on the Australian Government’s drought relief measures.

On Tuesday 16 October 2018, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, welcomed Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they officially commenced their visit to Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Gregor Millson, Joint Chairman, Sargood Foundation, met with staff and guests at Sargood on Collaroy, at Collaroy.

On Monday 15 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Matt Davies, CEO, Red Cross ACT, visited Red Cross Meals on Wheels in support of Anti-Poverty week, and delivered a meal to a client in the Canberra area.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Peter Maurer, President, International Committee of the Red Cross; and Mr Ross Pinney, President, Australian Red Cross, at Government House, Canberra.
