On Sunday 5 August 2018, at Sydney Olympic Park, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, attended the 2018 Wheelchair Rugby World Championship Opening Ceremony and watched the Australian ‘Steelers’ versus New Zealand ‘Wheel Blacks’, as guests of Mr Steve Loader, Chairman, 2018 Wheelchair Rugby World Championship Organising Committee.

On Thursday 2 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received members of the National Malaya & Borneo Veterans Association. Members included: Mr Owen Marshall, National President; Mr Ian Davenport, President, ACT/NSW Branch; Mr Brian Selby, SA/NT Branch; and Mr Ben Thurlow, Secretary, VIC Branch.

On Wednesday 1 August 2018, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) was represented by Colonel Christopher Austin ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp, for the arrival to Australia of His Excellency the Honourable Baron Waqa MP, President of the Republic of Nauru.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from St Joseph’s Memorial School, SA; Bankstown Public School; and Noumea Public School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Tuesday 24 July 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Order of Australia honours and bravery decorations in recognition of the Australian Chiang Rai Rescue Team.

On Friday 20 July 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove attended an Australian Police Forces versus Australian Defence Force rugby union exhibition match, as guests of Rear Admiral Michael Rothwell AM RAN, Chairman, ADF Rugby Union, at Portsea Oval, Duntroon, to raise awareness for the Invictus Games in Sydney later this year.

On Thursday 19 July 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, at Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Matthew Neuhaus, Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, for a pre-posting call.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received Mr Roderick Brazier, High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, and Mrs Amita Brazier.
