On Monday 10 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Mr Zachary Matthews (Guildford Grammar School, WA) and Ms Phoebe Thomasson (St Brigid’s College, WA), as recipients of the 2018 Hasluck Leadership Award, accompanied by Mrs Anna Wyatt and Ms Lynnie Butler.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Letter of Commission from the High-Commissioner for Mozambique.

On Saturday 8 September 2018, at Brisbane International Airport, The Governor-General was represented for the arrival of Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, by Honorary Aide-de-Camp, Colonel Chris Austin ADC.

On Friday 7 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Order of Australia honours and bravery decorations.

On Wednesday 5 September 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received His Excellency Dr Obaid Alhairi Salem Alketbi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, at Government House, Canberra.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from St Dympnas School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Tuesday 4 September 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove visited the Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Centre and received a brief on the health care services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians across the ACT and surrounding region.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Manning Valley Anglican School; and St Patrick’s School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Monday 3 September 2018, at the Royal Australian Mint, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended the launch of the new effigy of Her Majesty the Queen on Australian coins, as guests of Mr Ross MacDiarmid, CEO, Royal Australian Mint.

Afterwards, at Victoria Barracks, Sydney, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with Invictus Games athletes and received an update on the 2018 Invictus Games Sydney from Mr Ben Rahilly, Chief Operating Officer.

Gundagai; Murrumbateman, NSW

On Saturday 01 September 2018, at the Gundagai Showgrounds, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended the 7th Light Horse Troop Gundagai parade and commemorative service, as guests of Mr Richard Erkelens, Vice-President, Gundagai RSL.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with Australian Red Cross staff and volunteers assisting with drought relief efforts.

On Friday 31 August 2018, at the National Arboretum, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended an event for National Wattle Day. The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove conducted a ceremonial planting of a golden wattle tree for the National Arboretum and were presented a basket of wattle from students from the Islamic School of Canberra.

On Thursday 30 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, conducted an Investiture Ceremony, at which Dr Barry McGowan OAM was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (General Division), at Canberra Hospital.

Later, the Governor-General received Vice Admiral Michael Noonan AO RAN, Chief of Navy, at Government House, Canberra.
