On Friday 10 March 2017, at the Pialligo Estate Glasshouse, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), attended a memorial service for the late Pamela Harvey.

In the evening, at Government House, Canberra, Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception for the National Gallery of Australia Foundation.

On Thursday 9 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Seaton High School, SA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Wednesday 8 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students from Berwick Fields Primary School, VIC; and St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School, SA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Tuesday 7 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received video calls from students attending Innisfail State College, QLD; Holy Rosary School, WA; Karratha Primary School, WA; Geraldton Primary School, WA; and Kununurra District High School, WA, as part of their civics and citizenship classes.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Wembley Primary School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Monday 6 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, received the Chair of the National Council of Women Australia, Ms Barbara Baikie.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin AC.

On Sunday 5 March 2017, at Thoroughbred Park, Lyneham, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of the Canberra Racing Club, Mr Peter Stubbs, attended the 2017 Black Opal Stakes race day and presented the trophy to the winning owners.

Melbourne, VIC

On Friday 3 March 2017, at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove attended the annual presentation ceremony for the 2017 John Monash Scholars where the Governor-General presented the certificates to the 2017 Scholar recipients. The John Monash Scholarships commenced in 2003 and 147 scholarships have been awarded to date. They key selection criteria for the scholarships include ‘leadership, scholastic excellence and citizenship’.

Melbourne, VIC

On Thursday 2 March 2017, at Spear of Fame, Blackburn, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Owner and Manager, Mr Umit Erturk, viewed the facilities, received a briefing on operations and met with staff. Spear Of Fame was established in 1993 and produces embroidered Banners and Standards that are used by the Australian Defence Force.

On Wednesday 1 March 2017, at the National Library of Australia, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of Gift of Life, Mr David O’Leary, officiated the start of the Gift of Life’s DonateLife Walk.

Canberra, ACT; Carwoola, NSW

On Tuesday 28 February 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, following the passing of the late Paul Chen, attended a tree planting ceremony. Mr Chen worked as a gardener at Government House for 28 years.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the President, Mr Tim Jackson, and Chief Executive Officer, Ms Adrienne Picone, of Volunteering Australia.
