On Monday 22 October 2012, at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Australia, Professor Helen Zorbas, attended the annual Pink Ribbon Breakfast at which the Governor-General gave an address.

Regional Arts Australia

On Sunday 21 October 2012, at the Australasian Hotel, Goolwa, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, officiated at the 2012 Regional Arts Australia Awards.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Commander Theodore Wynberg ADC RAN, Honourary Aide-de-camp.

Handel’s Rodelinda; Regional Arts Australia

On Saturday 20 October 2012, at the City Recital Hall, Sydney, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of Board Member of the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Foundation, Mr Duncan Kinnon, attended a performance of Handel’s Rodelinda, directed by Mr Richard Bonynge AC CBE, in memory of the late Dame Joan Sutherland.

Afterwards, at the Australasian Hotel, Goolwa, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, attended a dinner with Regional Arts Australia Board Members.

Governor-General visits Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections

An organisation dedicated to responding to the needs of the wider Liverpool community received a visit from the Governor-General.

Ms Bryce met representatives from Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections (LNC) at Warwick Farm and was invited to visit the organisation's premises.

Later, the Governor-General learned about how LNC was addressing generational female unemployment, food insecurity and the creation of safe spaces with the creation of "Peppers Place Café", which operates out of the Warwick Farm premises.

Governor-General visits the Liverpool Youth Accommodation Assistance Company

The Governor-General heard the personal stories of young residents during a visit to the Liverpool Youth Accommodation Assistance Company.

Ms Bryce was invited to visit the organisation's accommodation facilities by the Manager, Ms Lisa Attard.

Later, the Governor-General met young people who access the company's services, including accommodation and employment programs.

Governor-General visits ‘African Sisters on the Move’

The Governor-General made a return visit to SydWest Multicultural Services in Blacktown to spend time with the "African Sisters on the Move" and to hear of their continuing work within the community.

There are currently 60 permanent and 150 casual members of the group who meet fortnightly at the non-profit association's building.

Ms Bryce previously met the group during a visit to SydWest MS in July 2011.

Governor-General visits Mission Australia's Camperdown Project

Marking UN Anti-Poverty Week, the Governor-General visited Mission Australia's Camperdown Project, located at Common Ground Sydney (CGS), which provides accommodation for homeless people, social housing and affordable housing tenants.

Ms Bryce was briefed on the project before meeting Mark, who had previously experienced homelessness. Later, the Governor-General met other CGS tenants, staff members and Mission Australia representatives.

Mission Australia, African Sisters on the Move; Liverpool Youth Accommodation Assistance Company; Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections

On Friday 19 October 2012, at Mission Australia, Camperdown, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Chief Executive Officer of Mission Australia Housing, Mr Andrew McAnulty, met with staff and residents at the Common Ground project.

Afterwards, at SydWest Multicultural Services, Blacktown, the Governor-General, as guest of the Coordinator, Ms Yatta Quetee, attended a lunch with the African Sisters on the Move.

Governor-General attends Cabramatta Public School's Community Day

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce made a special visit to Cabramatta Public School to meet students and their families during the school’s annual Community Day.

Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce watched several musical performances during a cultural assembly before being escorted through the school and stalls by the Principal, Mr John Rice, Assistant Principal, Mr Rob Webster, and Deputy Principal, Ms Margaret Creagh.

The multicultural school has over 765 students from over 40 different cultural backgrounds.

Governor-General meets young people at the Salvation Army’s Café Horizons

The Governor-General, as Patron of the Salvation Army, and Mr Michael Bryce met young staff undertaking vocational training at Café Horizons in Cabramatta.

The General Manager of the Salvation Army’s Youthlink, Mr John Drew, greeted Ms Bryce before she joined the young people for an informal lunch and discussions about their involvement with the café.

Café Horizons was opened in 2001 to cater for a need to provide vocational training to local young people who had dropped out of school.
