Investitures at Government House

The Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested 54 recipients with Queen’s Birthday Honours and a Bravery Award at Government House, Canberra.

In the morning, the Honourable Justice Virginia Bell AC, Professor Stephen Hopper AC and the Honourable Joan Kirner AC were appointed Companions in the General Division of the Order of Australia for their eminent service to the judiciary, science and the Parliament of Victoria respectively.

On Wednesday 19 September 2012, at Government House, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the former Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council, Mr Malcolm Speed.

Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the transit through Australia of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge by the Official Secretary, Mr Stephen Brady CVO.

Governor-General meets recipients of the 2012 AusAID Australian Leadership Awards

The Governor-General hosted an event for African women leaders of the future at Government House, Canberra.

Ms Bryce met 10 recipients of the 2012 AusAID Australian Leadership Awards, currently studying in Australia.

Each year, 200 recipients of AusAID’s Development Award Scholarships are selected to receive the supplementary Award, which aims to develop leadership skills and create links between developing countries and Australia.

President of Nauru

On Monday 17 September 2012, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the transit through Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Commander Paul Doble ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Temora Agricultural Innovation Centre; Temora combined church service

On Sunday 16 September 2012, at the Temora Agricultural Innovation Centre, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of FarmLink, Mr Jon Cobden, viewed research activities before the Governor-General unveiled a commemorative plaque celebrating 100 years of agricultural innovation in Temora.

Governor-General visits the Temora Agricultural Research Station

On the second day of a visit to Temora, the Governor-General marked the 100th anniversary of the Temora Research Station, which provides agricultural information to communities throughout southern New South Wales.

Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce were escorted around the 640 hectare property by CEO of FarmLink, Mr Jon Cobden, and Secretary of the Agricultural Bureau, Mr Michael Sinclair, and viewed research plots including canola.

Temora Aviation Museum; Telemedicine Australia; Temora school principals and student leaders; Temora and District Education Fund Dinner

On Saturday 15 September 2012, at the Temora Aviation Museum, Temora, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the President and Founder of the Temora Aviation Museum, Mr David Lowy AM and Mrs Margo Lowy, attended the museum Showcase Day.

Afterwards, at the Telemedicine Australia offices, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of Telemedicine Australia, Dr Ashley Collins, viewed a demonstration of Telemedicine Australia equipment and met with staff.
