Widows of First World War Veterans Flight Farewell

On Monday 20 April 2015, at Sydney Airport, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Qantas, Mr Alan Joyce, attended a reception for the widows of First World War veterans, at which the widows were farewelled prior to their flight to Turkey for Anzac Day Centenary Commemorations at Gallipoli.

Federal Executive Council; Opening of ‘The World War I Centenary Exhibition’

On Thursday 16 April 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at Government House, Victoria, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Governor of Victoria, His Excellency the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC, and Mrs Elizabeth Chernov.

War Widows’ 21st Field of Remembrance Dedication Ceremony and 2015 Anzac Service; Anzac Centenary 18 Pounder Gun Welcome to Canberra

On Wednesday 15 April 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

Afterwards, at the War Widow’s Guild of Australia ACT Branch, Lyneham, the Governor-General, as National Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as ACT Patron, attended the 21st Field of Remembrance Dedication Ceremony and 2015 Anzac Service, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid crosses in honour of the Unknown Soldier and on behalf of the War Widow’s Guild of Australia.

Federal Executive Council

On Tuesday 14 April 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received the Founder of The Asha Foundation, Dr Kiran Martin and longstanding supporter, Ms Elizabeth Peaks.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Mrs Menna Rawlings CMG.
