Afterwards, in Holland Park, the Governor-General, as Patron, attended an afternoon tea with participants of the GROW program. Later, in Fortitude Valley, the Governor-General attended a meeting with the Board and staff of Family Planning Queensland.

On Thursday 17 December 2009, in South Brisbane, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Deputy Director, Ms Topaz Conway, visited the Mater Medical Research Institute.

In the afternoon, in Herston, the Governor-General, as Patron of Children's Hospital Foundations Australia, and Mr Bryce, visited patients and staff at the Queensland Royal Children's Hospital. Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director, Professor Michael Good AO, visited the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.

On Monday 14 December 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, His Excellency Mr Thanh Tan Nguyen. Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the United States of America, the Honourable Professor Kim Beazley AC. In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception for Pro Musica.

On Saturday 12 December 2009, at Circular Quay, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the naming ceremony of the Pacific Jewel at which the Governor-General, as Godmother, officially christened the ship.

On Friday 11 December 2009, at HMAS CERBERUS, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Melbourne Naval Undergraduate Officers' Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, reviewed the Parade and delivered the address.
