On Friday 4 December 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Ambassador-designate to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr Paul Foley.

In the evening, at the Hughes Community Centre, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, delivered an address at the Council on the Ageing Christmas function in recognition of their 35th anniversary.

On Thursday 3 December 2009, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Australian Command and Staff College Graduation Ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, presented the Governor-General's Prize.

In the evening, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, as Chief Scout, and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for Scouts Australia ACT Branch, at which the Governor-General presented the Queen's Scout and Baden Powell Awards.

On Wednesday 2 December 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Croatia, Ms Beverly Mercer.

On Tuesday 1 December 2009, at the University of Newcastle, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC officially opened the 2nd Australian Indigenous Family and Community Strengths Conference.

Afterwards, at the Luncheon Club, Sydney, the Governor-General, in recognition of World AIDS Day and the 25th anniversary of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, met with individuals directly affected by HIV/AIDS and the organisations that support them. In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General hosted a reception to mark the 20th Anniversary of the St James Ethics Centre.

On Monday 30 November 2009, at Sydney University, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron, attended the Older Women's Network Australia Annual Conference.

Afterwards, in Parramatta, New South Wales, the Governor-General, as guest of the Principal, Ms Anthea Donaldson, visited staff and students at the Parramatta West Public School. In the evening, at the Four Season's Hotel, Sydney, the Governor-General delivered an address at the 21st Annual Ethnic Business Awards Gala Dinner.

On Saturday 28 November 2009, at The Women's Club, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC delivered an address at The Australian Federation of University Women's 34th National Triennial Conference Gala Dinner.

Earlier, at Hotel Realm, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the St John Ambulance Australia national board meeting.

On Friday 27 November 2009, at the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron, officially opened the Annual Home Hospice Conference.

On Thursday 26 November 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Stephen Tarus, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Yvonne Wamalwa (Deputy Head of Mission), Ms Beatrice Muthigana (First Secretary) and Ms Margaret Iraki (Administrative Assistant).

On Wednesday 25 November 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

On Tuesday 24 November 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the author of the book Looking Forward, Looking Back, Mr Christopher Jobson who was accompanied by Mrs Tracey Jobson and Mr Denny Neave.
