On Sunday 7 September 2014, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested Dr Jose Ramos Horta AC with the insignia of Honorary Companion of the Order of Australia.

Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Divavesi Waqa MP, by Colonel Dennis Scanlan CSM RFD ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Saturday 6 September 2014, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove received the parents of the late Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG, Mr Doug Baird and Mrs Kaye Baird.

On Friday 5 September 2014, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea for the Aim for the Stars Foundation.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception, at which the Governor-General launched National Child Protection Week 2014.

Later, the Governor-General received the Managing Director of Tourism Australia, Mr John O’Sullivan, and the Executive General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Ms Karen Halbert.

At the National Film and Sound Archive in Acton, ACT, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Michael Loebenstein, visited Australia’s national audiovisual collection and met with staff.

On Thursday 4 September 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received members of the Mine Victims and Clearance Trust, Mr Clarence Ormsby and Mrs Janet Ormsby; and Mr David Murray.

Later, in Acton, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Michael Loebenstein, visited the National Film and Sound Archive.

In Sydney, as guest of the President of RSL Australia, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Retd), the Governor-General attended a farewell reception for Australia’s Invictus Games team.

On Wednesday 3 September 2014, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) hosted a reception and quarterly meeting for the Business Council of Australia.

Later, at the Hyde Park Inn, Sydney, the Governor-General, as guest of the National President of the Returned and Services League of Australia, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Retd), attended a farewell reception for Australia’s Invictus Games team.

At the Royal Australian Navy Heritage Centre, Garden Island, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Patron, launched the Young Endeavour 2015 World Voyage and call for nominations through a national ballot.

On Monday 1 September 2014, at the Royal Australian Navy Heritage Centre, Garden Island, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, launched the call for nominations for the Young Endeavour 2015 World Voyage.

On Sunday 31 August 2014, at the Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Government of New Caledonia, Ms Cynthia Ligeard, by Commander Theodore Wynberg ADC RAN, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
