On Sunday 20 October 2013, at the BlueScope Steel factory, Xi’an, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the CEO of BlueScope Steel, Mr Paul O’Malley, viewed the new factory, which was then officially opened by the Governor-General.

Afterwards, at the Banyan Tree Lake Hotel, Guilin, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a meeting with the Governor of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr Chen Wu.

In Xi’an, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, met with the Governor of Shaanxi Province, Mr Lou Qinjian and visted cultural sites in the area.

On Saturday 19 October 2013, in Xi’an, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Governor of Shaanxi Province, Mr Lou Qinjian, visited cultural sites within the area.

Afterwards, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Xi’an, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the CEO of BlueScope, Mr Paul O’Malley, the President of BlueScope Asia, Mr Stewart Dellar, and the Senior Trade Commissioner and Country Manager – China for Austrade, Mr Michael Clifton.

Later, the Governor-General attended a meeting with Governor Lou.

At the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Beijing, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, as guests of the CEO of the Australia-China Chamber of Commerce, Mr Ross Bundey, attended a breakfast where the Governor-General gave an address.

Afterwards, at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, the Governor-General met with the Vice Premier of the State Council, Ms Liu Yandong.

On Friday 18 October 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received from His Excellency Mr Vele Trpevski, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Majkl Sibinovski (First Secretary).

At Renmin University, Beijing, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, as guests of the Director of the Australian Studies Centre, Professor Zhang Yongxian, met with staff and students before delivering an address and participating in a discussion with students.

Later, in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, the Governor-General met with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Li Keqiang.

On Thursday 17 October 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Administrator, as guest of the Director of the Australian Futures Project, Mr Ralph Ashton, attended a workshop on ‘building Australia’s future making capabilities’.

At the National Palace Museum, Forbidden City, Beijing, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce viewed the painting and ceramic gallery in the Hall of Martial Valour.

In the evening, at the Capital M Restaurant, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for Australian and Chinese alumni.

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce travelled by bullet train to Tianjin, China.

At the Tianjin Arts Museum, Their Excellencies, as guests of the Director, Mr Chen Zhuo, and the Director of the Warburton Arts Project, Mr Gary Proctor, viewed and officially launched the Indigenous exhibition ‘Our Land, Our Body.’

Afterwards, at the Tianjin Municipal Government Guesthouse, the Governor-General met with the Mayor of Tianjin, Mr Huang Xingguo.

On Wednesday 16 October 2013, at Tianjin Arts Museum, China, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Director of the Tianjin Arts Museum, Mr Chen Zhuo and the Director of the Warburton Arts Project, Mr Gary Proctor, viewed and officially launched the Indigenous exhibition ‘Our Land, Our Body.’
