Remembrance Day

On Monday 11 November 2013, at the Australian War Memorial, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chair of the Council of the Australian War Memorial, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Ret’d), attended the Remembrance Day Service at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, His Excellency Major General Martyn Dunne (Ret’d).

Dedication Ceremony of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial

On Sunday 10 November 2013, at the Torrens Parade ground, Adelaide, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the dedication ceremony of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial, at which the Governor-General addressed the audience and officially unveiled the dedication plaque.

Federal Executive Council; Morning tea for Legacy widows; Credential Ceremonies

On Friday 8 November 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Administrator hosted a morning tea for Legacy widows from Canberra and the surrounding area.

Afterwards, the Administrator received from His Excellency Mr Belmiro José Malate, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the Non-resident High Commissioner for the Republic of Mozambique.

State Visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

On Thursday 7 November 2013, at Mandalay International Airport, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, were welcomed to Mandalay Region by the Chief Minister, His Excellency U Ye Myint.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Culture, Her Excellency Daw Sandar Khin, and as guest of cultural advisor, U Sein Myint, visited U Bein Bridge.

State Visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

At the Yangon Children’s Hospital, Myanmar, the Governor-General, as guest of the Senior Medical Superintendent Dr Than Htaik, Consultant Pediatrician Dr Aye Thiri Naing and Australian Emergency Physician Dr Rose Skalicky-Klein, met with patients, pediatrician practitioners and surgeons.

Afterwards, at the Chief Minister’s Office, the Governor-General, met with the Yangon Chief Minister, His Excellency U Myint Swe.

Later, at the Australian Residence, the Governor-General hosted a roundtable discussion for women community leaders.

On Wednesday 6 November 2013, at the Yangon Children’s Hospital, Myanmar, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Senior Medical Superintendent Dr Than Htaik, Consultant Pediatrician Dr Aye Thiri Naing and Australian Emergency Physician Dr Rose Skalicky-Klein, met with patients, pediatrician practitioners and surgeons.

Afterwards, at the Chief Minister’s Office, the Governor-General, met with the Yangon Chief Minister, His Excellency U Myint Swe.

At the President’s Office, Nay Pyi Taw, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, as guests of the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, His Excellency U Thein Sein and Daw Khin Khin Win, attended a ceremonial welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the President.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the President and Daw Khin Khin Win, attended a State Lunch hosted in their honour.
