Fleet review onboard HMAS Leeuwin; Chief of Navy International Fleet Review Reception

On Saturday 5 October 2013, on Sydney harbour, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Commander-in-Chief, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, received a 100 gun salute and reviewed the Royal Australian Navy’s International Fleet onboard HMAS Leeuwin.

Afterwards, at the Sydney Opera House, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guest of the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO CSC RAN attended the International Fleet Review Reception.

Royal Australian Navy’s International Fleet entry

At Bradley’s Head, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, reviewed the Royal Australian Navy’s International Fleet entry in recognition of the centenary of the Australian fleet entry into Sydney Harbour, and received a 21 gun salute from HMAS Sydney.

Afterwards, the Governor-General launched the book ‘Winning at Sea – The Story of Women at Sea in the RAN’ and met with women officers and sailors of the Royal Australian Navy.

International Fleet review and launch of ‘Winning at Sea – The Story of Women at Sea in the RAN’; Reception for EMBA students; Reception for the Beacon Foundation

Federal Executive Council

On Thursday 3 October 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of the Italian Republic, His Excellency Mr Gian Ludovico de Martino di Montegiordano.

Earlier, at the Hughes Community Centre, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron of Council of the Ageing, attended a morning tea in recognition of the International Day of Older People.

Launch of the ‘Cambridge History of Australia’

On Wednesday 2 October 2013, at the State Library of Victoria, Melbourne, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Managing Director Academic Publishing at Cambridge University Press, Mr Richard Fisher, and the Publishing Manager at Cambridge University Press, Ms Kim Armitage, officially launched the publication ‘The Cambridge History of Australia’.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received graphic designer, Mr James Stuart.
