Governor-General attends General Service Officer Graduation Parade at the Royal Military College

As Commander-in-Chief and the Reviewing Officer, the Governor-General attended the General Service Officer Graduation Parade at the Royal Military College (RMC), Duntroon.

RMC Commandant, Brigadier David Luhrs CSC and RMC Deputy Chief instructor, Major Richard Halloway, greeted Ms Bryce on arrival before she inspected the parade and band. Later, the Governor-General presented the Sword of Honour to Senior Under Officer Lachlan Joseph for displaying exemplary conduct and performance of duty, and the Queen’s Medal to Sergeant Briony Morgan for ranking first in her RMC class.

End of Year Graduation Parade for the Full Time General Service Officer Graduands at the Royal Military College; Recital for the Friends of the School of Music

On Tuesday 11 December 2012, at the Royal Military College - Duntroon, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Commander-in-Chief, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended the End of Year Graduation Parade for the Full Time General Service Officer Graduands, at which the Governor-General reviewed and addressed the Parade.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the President of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Mr Greg Hartung OAM.

Governor-General hosts an event for ADFA Graduands, RMC Cadets and the Spitfire Association

The Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, held an event for Australian Defence Force Academy Graduands, Royal Military College Cadets and the Spitfire Association at Government House, Canberra.

Ms Bryce presented the 2013 Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship to Dr Sean O’Byrne. The Fellowship supports senior students and academics to develop advanced knowledge and expertise that will contribute to the defence of Australia.

Reception for Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College Graduands, and the Spitfire Association

On Monday 10 December 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Commander-in-Chief, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a reception for Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College Graduands, and the Spitfire Association, at which the Governor-General presented the 2013 Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship.

Earlier, at the Malkara School, Canberra, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the 2012 Christmas Concert.

Afterwards, at Woden Senior Citizens Club, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the Woden Senior’s Christmas Lunch.

On Friday 7 December 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the Creative Director of the Centenary of Canberra, Ms Robyn Archer AO, and General Manager, Mr Adam Stankevicius.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr Gerald Thomson.

Governor-General receives Dr Laura Bray

The Governor-General met the inaugural Prime Minister’s Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award recipient, Dr Laura Bray.

Dr Bray, a researcher a the Queensland University of Technology, will use the $118,000 post-doctoral assistance award to undertake research in Dresden, Germany over two years with the aim of developing a new clinical therapy for patients with painful eye disorders.

Governor-General attends Australian Command and Staff College graduation ceremony

The Governor-General congratulated graduating students of the Australian Command and Staff College (ACSC) during a ceremony at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Canberra.

Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce were welcomed to Adams Hall by the Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC, Commander of the Australian Defence College, Major General Craig Orme AM CSC, and ACSC Directing Staff, Wing Commander Simon Braun MBE, before the Governor-General received a Vice Regal Salute.

Attend the Australian Command and Staff College Graduation Ceremony; Meeting of the Federal Executive Council

On Thursday 6 December 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended the 2012 Graduation Ceremony for the Australian Command and Staff College, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, gave an address and awarded the Governor General’s prize to Major Giles Cornelia CSM.

Governor-General's Children's Christmas Party

Over 1000 primary school students, their parents and carers from Canberra and the surrounding region enjoyed a day of activities, close encounters and a special visit from Santa Claus during the Governor-General’s Children’s Christmas Party at Government House.

During the day, Ms Bryce joined the students from over 80 schools watching activities including a sheep dog demonstration, pony rides, a petting zoo and a reptile exhibit.

Visit to the National Gallery of Australia: Host a Children’s Christmas Party

On Wednesday 5 December 2012, in Parkes, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Director, Dr Ron Radford AM, visited the National Gallery of Australia.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General hosted a Children’s Christmas party for students from schools in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding region.

Later, the Governor-General met with students from Oakleigh South Primary School.
