Australia Day 2012 Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony

The Governor-General joined thousands of people gathered at Rond Terrace in Canberra, for the Australia Day Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony.

Ms Bryce was accorded a Royal Salute before inspecting the Federation Guard.

After the ceremony, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce joined the Prime Minister, the Hon. Julia Gillard MP, guests and members of the public for a Citizenship Ceremony and morning tea by Lake Burley Griffin.

Governor-General welcomes Australian of the Year 2012 finalists

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce welcomed Australians of the Year – past and present – at Government House in Canberra.

This year’s finalists joined previous winners of the prestigious award, on the eve of the announcement of the 2012 Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year, Australia's Local Hero,and Australian of the Year by the Prime Minister, the Hon. Julia Gillard MP.

Reception in Honour of the National Finalists of the 2012 Australian of the Year Awards

On Tuesday 24 January 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, His Excellency Dr Kriangsak Kittichaisaree.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception in honour of the National Finalists of the 2012 Australian of the Year Awards.

Women's Cricket; President of the Republic of Nauru

On Sunday 22 January 2012, at North Sydney Oval, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guest of the Advisor to Cricket Australia’s ‘Females in Cricket’ Reference Group, Ms Rina Hore, attended the Australian Southern Stars versus New Zealand White Ferns cricket match.

Later, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Group Captain Guy Burton CSC ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Governor-General meets Southern Stars and New Zealand White Ferns at Admiralty House

On the eve of the Women's T20 International cricket competition, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce met Australian Southern Stars and New Zealand White Ferns team members at Admiralty House, Sydney.

Ms Bryce and the cricketers were also joined by young girls involved in the in2CRICKET development program.

The young cricketers took the opportunity to play a short game on a freshly mowed pitch on the lawn of the historic residence.
