The Governor-General called on His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House in London.
On Sunday 3 June 2012, aboard the MV Sarpedon, on the River Thames, London, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, represented Australia in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
The Governor-General, as Australia’s representative at Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, participated in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant aboard the Sarpedon.
Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce watched as Australian surf lifesavers led the flotilla of boats past millions of people lining the river.
On Saturday 2 June 2012, at Ledra Palace, Nicosia, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, met with the Australian Federal Police Contingent attached to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
Afterwards, at the Cyprus Archaeological Museum, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the Director of Antiquities, Dr Maria Hadjicosti.
Later, at Larnaca Airport, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were officially farewelled from the Republic of Cyprus by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Dr Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis.
The Governor-General visited the Republic of Cyprus’ House of Representatives and met its President, Mr Yiannakis Omirou, and female Members, Mrs Skevi Koukouma-Koutra, Mrs Stella Kyriakides, Ms Roula Mavronicola, and Ms Irene Charalambides.
Later, the Governor-General met members of the Australian Federal Police Contingent serving as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus at Ledra Palace in Nicosia.
On Friday 1 June 2012, at the South Australian National War Memorial, Adelaide, the Administrator, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR and Mrs Liz Scarce, as guests of The Aboriginal Veterans’ Commemorative Service Committee (SA), attended a commemorative ceremony in recognition of Aboriginal servicemen and women, at which the Administrator laid a wreath.
The Governor-General was formally welcomed to the Republic of Cyprus with a ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
Ms Bryce inspected a Guard of Honour with the President, His Excellency Mr Demetris Christofias, and laid a wreath before the statue of the late President, Archbishop Makarios III. The Governor-General and the President later engaged in a bilateral meeting and delivered statements to the media before attending a State Lunch hosted by the President at the Presidential Palace.
Ms Bryce previously met the President during his visit to Australia in May 2011.
On Thursday 31 May 2012, at Larnaca Airport, Cyprus, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE were officially welcomed to the Republic of Cyprus by the Minister for Education and Culture, Dr George Demosthenous, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Afterwards, at the Australian High Commission, Nicosia, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Trevor Peacock, attended a reception with High Commission staff, at which the Governor-General officially opened the new Chancery.
The Governor-General began the first day of a State Visit to the Republic of Cyprus by officially opening the Australian High Commission Chancery in Nicosia.
Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce were introduced to Chancery staff and their families by the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr Trevor Peacock.
Ms Bryce is the first Australian Governor-General to undertake a State Visit to Cyprus.
On Wednesday 30 May 2012, following the departure of the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO on a State Visit to the Republic of Cyprus and an official visit to the United Kingdom, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR.
