On Tuesday 7 February 2012 at Moree, New South Wales, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Mayor of Moree Plains Shire Council, Councillor Katrina Humphries, inspected flood damage to local properties and infrastructure.

Afterwards, at the Max Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received a briefing from the local SES controller and General Manager of the Moree Plains Shire Council on the impact of the floods and recovery plan.

On Monday 6 February 2012, at Government House, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a dinner for Senators and Members of the House of Representatives.

Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Colonel Dennis Scanlan CSM RFD ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Saturday 4 February 2012 at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Commander Paul Doble ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Afterwards, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the transit through Australia by the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP, by Brigadier Christopher Hamilton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Mr Michael Bryce, as Patron of the Cancer Council ACT, marked World Cancer Day by thanking staff and supporters of the organisation at an event at Government House, Canberra.

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce visited researchers and staff at the Children’s Medical Research Institute in Westmead, Sydney.

Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce were escorted through the Institute’s research facility, which focuses on embryonic development, cancer, nerve cell signalling and gene therapy research.

The Governor-General visited The Shepherd Centre in Darlington, Sydney, and spent time with children and parents assisted by the Centre’s programs.

Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce viewed a demonstration of an Auditory-Verbal Therapy session before joining the Centre’s playgroup for a “singing circle” where deaf and hearing impaired children learn are encouraged to listen and speak.

The Governor-General launched an exhibition that features works by artist Bronwyn Bancroft made throughout her career spanning thirty years.

Ms Bryce launched “Passion, Power, Politics” at Carriageworks in Eveleigh, Sydney, and joined guests to view the artworks borrowed from national galleries and private collections for the exhibition.

On Thursday 2 February 2012, at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Director, Professor Roger Reddel, viewed research activities and met with staff at the Children’s Medical Research Institute.

Afterwards, at The Shepherd Centre, Darlington, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jim Hungerford, received an overview of the centre’s support services and met with staff, children and families.

On Tuesday 31 January 2012, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the transit through Australia of the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP, by Group Captain Brian Duddington AM ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Monday 30 January 2012, at St George’s Anglican Church, Malvern, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a service in honour of the late Mrs Avril Everingham OAM.
