Federal Executive Council; Afternoon tea for war veterans

On Thursday 21 April 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted an afternoon tea for war veterans accompanying them on an official visit to Hellfire Pass in the Kingdom of Thailand for ANZAC Day.

Earlier, Mr Alexander Arthurson, Mr William Schmitt AM, Mr Cyril Gilbert OAM, the Honourable Thomas Uren AO and Ms Jane Gallagher arrived at Government House and remained overnight as houseguests.

Hartley Lifecare

On Wednesday 20 April 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms Gillian Bird.

Earlier, at Deakin, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, turned the first sod of Hartley Lifecare’s new administration building.

Investiture Ceremony; Clontarf Foundation

On Thursday 14 April 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended, and the Governor-General conducted, an investiture ceremony.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Clontarf Foundation, received the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Gerard Neesham OAM, and Mr Ross Kelly AM.

Later, at the Gallery of Australian Design, Parkes, Mr Bryce attended a meeting with the Governing Council and Exhibitions Advisory Group.

Marion Mahony Griffin lecture

On Tuesday 12 April 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, the Honourable Chris Bowen MP.

In the evening, at the Canberra Business Event Centre, Regatta Point, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Marion Mahony Griffin lecture.

Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of the People's Republic of China

On Friday 8 April 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the First Assistant Secretary, North Asia Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Peter Rowe.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Jia Qinglin.

Launch of ???Notebooks'

On Thursday 7 April 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chairman of Bethesda Children's Homes, India, the Reverend Dr R. Abraham, and the President of Heart for India, Mr Graham Hill.

In the afternoon, at the National Gallery of Australia, Parkes, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a reception at which the Governor-General launched Notebooks by Betty Churcher AO.
