On Friday 8 March 2019 the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Kathy Hirschfeld, President, UN Women’s National Committee, attended the UN Women’s National Committee’s International Women’s day celebration at the Sydney International Convention Centre.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Commodore Robert Plath RAN, Deputy Fleet Commander, presented the Gloucester Cup to HMAS Melbourne at Fleet Base East, Sydney.
On Thursday 7 March 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at Government House, Canberra.
Earlier, Lady Cosgrove, as guest of Mrs Ana Gutteres, President, Association of Spouses of Heads of Mission, attended a celebration for International Women’s Day at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a morning tea in celebration of International Women’s Day at Government House, Canberra.
On Wednesday 6 March 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Karen Cornelius, Principal, met with staff and students at the Coober Pedy Area School.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Anthony Ryan, Regional Director of Nursing, and Mrs Julia Waddington-Powell, Acting Executive Officer, met with staff and patients at Coober Pedy Hospital.
On Tuesday 5 March 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Julia Shea, Principal, met with staff and students at St Peter's Girls’ School, Stonyfell.
