Wilkins Aerodrome, Antarctica

On Thursday 17 November 2016, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove travelled to Wilkins Aerodrome, Antarctica, on an invitation from the Australian Government.

Afterwards, at Wilkins Aerodrome, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Director of the Australian Antarctic Division, Dr Nick Gales, viewed the facilities and received a briefing on operations.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with expeditioners and scientists based at Wilkins Aerodrome and Casey Research Station.

Canberra, ACT; Kingston, TAS

On Tuesday 15 November 2016, at the Australian Antarctic Division Headquarters, Kingston, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Dr Nick Gales, received a briefing on the Australian Antarctic Program and met with scientific and operations staff.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Ashdale Secondary College, WA; and Kororo Public School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

Drummoyne, NSW

On Sunday 13 November 2016, at Drummoyne Oval, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, hosted the Governor-General’s XI versus South Africa Women’s Cricket match. The Governor-General’s XI won the match with a total of 204 runs and 11 balls to spare.

Afterwards, Lady Cosgrove presented the Player of the Match trophy to Ms Beth Mooney, and the Governor-General presented the Governor-General’s trophy to the Captain of the Governor-General’s XI, Ms Ellyse Perry.

Sydney, NSW

On Saturday 12 November 2016, at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Association of Papal Orders mass and lunch.

Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a welcome reception for the Governor-General’s XI and South African Women’s Cricket teams.

Canberra, ACT

On Friday 11 November 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Commander, United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Lieutenant General David Berger.

Afterwards, at the Australian War Memorial, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2016 Remembrance Day Ceremony.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted an afternoon tea for the Principle Rider, The Long Ride Home, Mr Laurie ‘Truck’ Sams SC, and supporters.

Canberra, ACT

On Thursday 10 November 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Deputy High Commissioner Designate to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island, Mr Matt Anderson.

Later, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the Republic of India, His Excellency Mr Navdeep Suri.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch for the Duntroon Guides.

Sale, VIC

On Wednesday 9 November 2016, at RAAF Base East Sale, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove attended the Combat Survival Training School Governor-General’s Banner Consecration Ceremony, at which the Governor-General presented the Governor-General’s Banner.

Afterwards, at the Sale Specialist School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Ms Shelagh Donegan, visited classrooms and met with teachers and students.

Canberra, ACT

On Tuesday 8 November 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove hosted an investiture ceremony at which the Governor-General invested recipients of the Battle of Long Tan awards.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove hosted an investiture ceremony at which the Governor-General invested members of Numbers 36 and 37 Squadrons with a Meritorious Unit Citation.

Canberra, ACT

On Monday 7 November 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea for Legacy Widows.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General participated in a Skype video call with Year 6 students from St Pius X Catholic School, WA, who are studying the role and responsibilities of Governors-General.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted the 2016 National Medals Presentation of the Australian Mathematics Competition.

Gold Coast, QLD; Brisbane, QLD

On Saturday 5 November 2016, at Dreamworld, Gold Coast, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove laid a floral tribute in memory of the victims of the recent Thunder River Rapids incident.

Afterwards, at Currumbin Returned and Services League Club, Gold Coast, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Doug and Mrs Kaye Baird, attended the unveiling of the Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG Memorial Statue and official lunch.
