On Tuesday 11 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the National Chairman, Mr Jim Hughes AM and the National Deputy Chairman, Mr Steve Callister, of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Later, the Governor-General received the President, Major General Michael Smith AO (Retd), of the United Nations Association of Australia.

In the afternoon, at Phillip, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, attended the launch of the new Hub@L’Arche venue.

Burpengary, QLD; Brighton, QLD

On Monday 10 October 2016, at Buchanan Park, Burpengary, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Burpengary Community War Memorial Association, Mr David Bennett OAM, laid a floral tribute at the Burpengary War Memorial.

Afterwards, at Burpengary State School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Mr Brad Fox, met with students from preparatory to year 6, where the Governor-General also addressed the school at an assembly.

Brisbane, QLD

On Saturday 8 October 2016, at Emma Miller Place, Brisbane, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Mr John Scoble, supported Rosies Friends on the Street Youth Outreach Service and met with clients and volunteers.

On Friday 7 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception for attendees of the Judicial Conference of Australia Colloquium.

On Thursday 6 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with school students from St Stephen’s School, WA; Killarney State School, QLD; Allora State School, QLD; St Finbarr Primary School, NSW; and Ascot Vale Primary School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Wednesday 5 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with school students from Bacchus Marsh Primary School, VIC; Nambour Christian College, QLD; and All Saints Parish Primary School, QLD as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

Jerusalem; Tel Aviv

On Saturday 1 October 2016, in Jerusalem, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Australian Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency Mr Dave Sharma, viewed the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Holy sites of the Old City.

In the afternoon, in Tel Aviv, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador and Ms Rachel Lord, met with Australian Embassy staff and their families.

Jerusalem

On Friday 30 September 2016, at Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the State of Israel by the Australian Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency Mr Dave Sharma.

In the morning, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a briefing with the Australian Ambassador.

On Thursday 29 September 2016, following the departure of the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), from Australia to represent Australia at the State Funeral for former President of Israel, Shimon Peres, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.

On Wednesday 28 September 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Tshewang Chopel Dorji, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Dr Martin Parkinson PSM.
