On Wednesday 3 February 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received the High Commissioner-designate to Kiribati, Mr Bruce Cowled.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Secretary General, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, His Excellency Mr Iyad Ameen Madani and his accompanying delegation.

2016 ABC Heywire Youth Summit afternoon tea; Women’s International Cricket Series reception

On Tuesday 2 February 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received the High Commissioner-designate to the Kingdom of Tonga, Mr Andrew Ford.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the People’s Republic of China, Ms Jan Adams PSM.

Later, the Governor-General, as Patron-in-Chief of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, and Lady Cosgrove hosted an afternoon tea for the 2016 ABC Heywire Regional Youth Summit participants.

The Australian Ballet School student residence opening; The Royal Children’s Hospital visit; 2016 Australian Open Women’s Final

On Saturday 30 January 2016, at Parkville, Melbourne, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of The Australian Ballet, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, The Australian Ballet School, Commissioner Leigh Johns, officially opened the new student residence, ‘Marilyn Rowe House’.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, The Royal Children’s Hospital, Professor Christine Kilpatrick, viewed hospital facilities and met with patients, family and staff.

Afterwards, the Governor-General phoned the Honourable Pat Farmer AM on the occasion of his commencement of the ‘Spirit of India’ ultra-marathon charity run.

Later, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Presiding Officer, and Lady Cosgrove, attended an Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

On Friday 22 January 2016, at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as co-hosts with Cricket Australia, attended the inaugural Governor-General’s XI Women’s Cricket Match, Governor-General’s XI v India, where play was abandoned due to weather before the requisite minimum overs were bowled.
