Visit to Parkes

On Wednesday 27 May 2015, at the Henry Parkes Centre, Parkes, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the Mayor Parkes Shire Council, Councillor Ken Keith OAM, opened the Moat Cottage to commemorate 200 years since the birth of Sir Henry Parkes.

Afterwards, at Parkes Library and Cultural Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of Councillor Keith, attended a civic lunch reception where the Governor-General met community members and launched the ‘Welcome to Parkes’ book by Mr Lex and Mrs June Weaver.

On Tuesday 26 May 2015, at Ayres Rock Resort, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Governor-General of New Zealand, His Excellency Lieutenant General the Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae, and Lady Janine Mateparae, visited the National Indigenous Training Academy at Yulara.

Later, at Government House, the Governor-General received the Party Secretary of the Guangdong Province of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Hu Chunhua and his accompanying delegation.

Clare Holland House morning tea; State Visit by the Governor-General of New Zealand; Visit to Uluru-Kata National Park

On Monday 25 May 2015, at Clare Holland House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Liz Callaghan, attended a morning tea with staff, residents and volunteers in recognition of National Palliative Care Week.

Visit to Uluru-Kata National Park

The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Governor-General of New Zealand, His Excellency Lieutenant General the Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae and Lady Janine Mateparae; and the Administrator of the Northern Territory, His Honour the Honourable John Hardy OAM and Mrs Marie Hardy, visited the Uluru-Kata National Park Cultural Centre and the Mutitjulu Waterhole.

Radio 1RPH visit; Defence Special Needs Support Group afternoon tea; Opening of ‘Revealing the Rothschild Prayer Book’ exhibition; Opening night of The Australian Ballet performance of ‘Giselle’

On Thursday 21 May 2015, at Radio 1RPH, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the President, Ms Lorraine Litster, broadcast content for print handicap listeners in the Canberra – Wagga – Junee areas.

Later, at Government House, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, hosted an afternoon tea for the Defence Special Needs Support Group, at which the Governor-General recognised 21 years of support and thanked the volunteer coordinators.
