RMC Graduation Parade; Official launch of ‘Paul Hasluck: A Life’

On Tuesday 9 December, at Duntroon, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Royal Military College General Service Officer Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General presented the Sword of Honour and The Queen’s Medal, and afterwards presented Commission and Graduation Certificates to the Graduating class of December 2014.

On Monday 8 December 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received from His Excellency Mr George Vengesa, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Dominic Buhera (Counselor), Mr Givemore Nyanzou (First Secretary) and Ms Maria Mapfumo (Third Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Auxilia Vengesa.

Christmas Sports Fun Day

At Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Christmas Sports Fun Day for more than 1,000 primary school students from the ACT and surrounds, who took part in demonstrations, drills and workshops by 11 sports – AFL, cricket, hockey, little athletics, netball, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, tennis, touch football and volleyball – encouraging active and healthy lifestyles, inclusiveness in the classroom and playground, and ‘having a go’.

Christmas Sports Fun Day

On Friday 5 December 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a Christmas Sports Fun Day for students of schools in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding region.

Private Travel to India; Call on the President of India

On Tuesday 2 December 2014, in New Delhi, India, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, undertook private travel to attend the 20th reunion of the National Defence College class of 1994.

In the afternoon, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove made an official call on the President of India, His Excellency Mr Pranab Mukherjee.

Commissioning of HMAS Canberra III; Proclamation

On Friday 28 November 2014, at Fleet Base East, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the commissioning of HMAS Canberra III.

In the evening, following the departure from Australia of the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.
