On Wednesday 29 October 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received from His Excellency Mr Isaiya Kabira, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Munyasya Mwangangi (Minister Counsellor), Mr Maurice Amisi (Counsellor) and Ms Mary Thiongo (Administrative Attaché). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Betty Kabira.

At the National Archives of Australia, Parkes, ACT, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director General, Mr David Fricker, attended the launch, by the Governor-General, of the ‘Discovering ANZACs’ website.

On Tuesday 28 October 2014, in Parkes, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director General, Mr David Fricker, visited the National Archives of Australia and the Governor-General officially launched the ‘Discovering ANZACs’ website.

On Monday 27 October 2014, in Tharwa, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron and guest of the Chairman, Mr Rod Pearse OAM, re-opened Outward Bound Australia’s National Base and Training Centre.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, received the Director-General of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, Mr Duncan Lewis AO DSC CSC.

In the afternoon, in Woden, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, attended an afternoon tea with the Woden Seniors leaders group.

On Sunday 26 October 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a welcome reception for the Australian Institute of International Affairs’ National Conference.

On Saturday 25 October 2014, at Admiralty House, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea for members of Security Detachment 5 involved in the Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device attack on an Australian Light Armoured Vehicle, in Baghdad on 25 October 2004.

In Afghanistan, the Governor-General, as a guest of the Commander of Joint Task Force 633, Major General Craig Orme AM CSC, visited Australian Defence Force personnel deployed to Operation Slipper.

At the Presidential Palace, Kabul, Afghanistan, the Governor-General met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.

On Thursday 23 October 2014, at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, the Governor-General, as guest of the Commander of Joint Task Force 633, Major General Craig Orme AM CSC, and the Local Commander, Brigadier General Douglas Gabram (US Army), met with Australian mentors from the Australian-led Afghan National Army 205th Hero Corps Coalition Advisory Team, Force Protection Element - Two and members of the Logistics Extraction Team based at Camp Baker.

At Camp Baird, the Australian domestic compound at Australia’s main base in the Middle East, named in honour of Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG, the Governor-General laid a wreath in memory of the 41 Australian soldiers killed on operations in Afghanistan.
