Australia’s Women of the Future award ceremony; Official opening of the restored Female Orphan School; Reception for Australia-China Youth Dialogue

On Tuesday 24 September 2013, at the Apollo Restaurant, Sydney, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Editor-in-Chief of The Australian Women’s Weekly, Ms Helen McCabe, and News Editor, Mr Bryce Corbett, presented two awards for the ‘Australia’s Women of the Future’ competition.

Afterwards, at the University of Western Sydney, Rydalmere, the Governor-General, as guest of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Janice Reid AM, and Director of the Whitlam Institute, Mr Eric Sidoti, officially opened the restored Female Orphan School.

RSL 2013 National Conference at the Australian War Memorial

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chair of the Australian War Memorial, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO (Ret’d), attended a Last Post ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath, and later opened the RSL 2013 National Conference and presented the 2013 ANZAC Peace Prize to Mr Andrew Harper at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.

On Monday 23 September 2013, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chair of the Australian War Memorial, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO (Ret’d), attended a Last Post ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath, and later opened the RSL 2013 National Conference and presented the 2013 ANZAC Peace Prize to Mr Andrew Harper.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO CSC RAN.

Swearing-in Ceremony for the first Abbott Ministry at Government House

At Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Instrument of Appointment and Oath of Office to newly appointed Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General issued the Instruments of Appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.

On Wednesday 18 September 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Instrument of Appointment and Oath of Office to newly appointed Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General issued the Instruments of Appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.
