At St. Bede's Primary School, Red Hill, Canberra, Lady Cosgrove, as a guest of the Principal, Ms Cherie Kelly, participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime initiative, reading this year’s book, “Too many elephants in this house” to Kindergarten students before joining teachers and staff for morning tea.

On Tuesday 20 May 2014, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Divavesi Waqa MP and Madam Louisa Waqa, by Colonel Dennis Scanlan CSM RFD ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Friday 16 May 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students participating in the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship program.

On Thursday 15 May 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at St Christopher’s Cathedral, Manuka, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, attended the funeral service for the late Air Chief Marshal Sir Neville McNamara KBE AO AFC AE (Retd).
