On Wednesday 17 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Mr Glenn Miles, Ambassador-designate, to the Arab Republic of Egypt, for a pre-posting call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, received MAJGEN Stephen Day DSC AM, Coordinator General, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, for an update on the Australian Government’s drought relief measures.

On Tuesday 16 October 2018, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, welcomed Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they officially commenced their visit to Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Gregor Millson, Joint Chairman, Sargood Foundation, met with staff and guests at Sargood on Collaroy, at Collaroy.

On Monday 15 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Matt Davies, CEO, Red Cross ACT, visited Red Cross Meals on Wheels in support of Anti-Poverty week, and delivered a meal to a client in the Canberra area.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Peter Maurer, President, International Committee of the Red Cross; and Mr Ross Pinney, President, Australian Red Cross, at Government House, Canberra.

On Saturday 13 October 2018, at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Everest Spring Racing Carnival, as guests of Mr Matthew McGrath, Chair, Australian Turf Club and presented the trophy to the owners of the winning horse, Redzel.

On Friday 12 October 2018, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception for the Joanna Briggs Foundation.

On Thursday 11 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General administered the Oath of Allegiance to the Honourable Justice John Logan RFD, President, Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal; and the Honourable Justice Melissa Perry, Member, Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch for the Latin American Heads of Mission.

On Wednesday 10 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a dinner for the Chief Justice and Justices of the High Court of Australia.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Pakenham Primary School, VIC; Ivanhoe Grammar School, VIC; and Sheldon College, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Tuesday 9 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students from St Catherine’s Primary School, VIC; and All Saints Parish Primary School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Monday 8 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, travelled to Melbourne. As guests of Professor Margaret Gardner AO, President and Vice-Chancellor, Monash University, Their Excellencies open the new Learning and Teaching Building, at the university’s Clayton campus.

On Sunday 7 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Paolina Hunt, CEO, Netball Australia, attended the first game of the Constellation Cup Netball Test between the Australian Diamonds and the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
