On Monday 23 October 2017, at the Presidential Palace, Beirut, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove as guests of the President of the Republic of Lebanon, His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun, and Mrs Nadia Al Chami, attended a Ceremonial Welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun.

Later, the Governor-General and His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun held an expanded meeting with Australian and Lebanese officials.

Cairo, Egypt; Beirut, Lebanon

On Sunday 22 October 2017, at the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director of the Egyptian Museum, Ms Sabah Abd El Razaki, and Egyptologist, Mrs Jane Smyth, viewed exhibits.

Afterwards, at the Unknown Soldier Memorial, Cairo, the Governor-General laid wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider and at the Tomb of President Sadat.

El Alamein, Egypt; Cairo, Egypt

On Saturday 21 October 2017, at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, El Alamein, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, represented the Government and the people of Australia at the international ceremony for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein commemoration at which the Governor-General delivered the poem ‘El Alamein’ by John Jarmain, and together with Lady Cosgrove, laid a wreath.

Amman, Jordan; Sinai Peninsula, Egypt; El Alamein, Egypt

On Friday 20 October 2017, at Jordan Museum, Amman, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director General, Jordan Museum, Mr Ihab Amarin, and University of Sydney Archaeologist, Dr Stephen Bourke, were briefed on artefacts excavated and restored as a result of Australia-Jordanian co-operation in archaeology.

Za'atari, Jordan; Amman, Jordan

On Thursday 19 October 2017, at the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Za'atari Refugee Camp, Al-Mafraq, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove as guests of Country Director and Representative to Jordan, World Food Programme (WFP), Mr Mageed Yahia, viewed the facilities of the WFP Health Kitchen, camp primary school and met with staff and refugees.

Amman, Jordan

On Wednesday 18 October 2017, at Queen Alia International Airport, Amman, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed by the Ambassador for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Excellency Mr Miles Armitage.

In the afternoon, at Husseiniya Palace, Amman, as guests of Their Majesties King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremonial welcome.

Canberra, ACT; Changi, Singapore

On Tuesday 17 October 2017, at Defence Establishment Fairbairn, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove farewelled from Canberra the President of the Republic of Ireland, His Excellency Mr Michael D Higgins and Mrs Sabina Higgins.

In the afternoon, at Changi International Airport, Singapore, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the Republic of Singapore by the High Commissioner to the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr Bruce Grosper.

Canberra, ACT

On Monday 16 October 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, Mr Richard Andrews.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the Republic of Ireland, His Excellency Mr Michael D. Higgins, and Mrs Sabina Higgins.

Sydney, NSW

On Saturday 14 October 2017, at Royal Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Turf Club, Mr Darren Pearce, attended the Royal Randwick Races at which the Governor-General presented the TAB Everest Cup trophy to the connections of the winning horse Redzel.

Canberra, ACT

On Friday 13 October 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received from His Excellency Mr Ali Illiassou, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador to the Republic of Niger.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador to the Republic of Niger, Mr Paul Lehmann. Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the Republic of Niger, His Excellency Mr Issoufou Mahamadou.
