Afterwards, at Government House, Melbourne, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended an investiture ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested Mr Tony Beddison AC with the insignia of the Companion of the Order of Australia.

On Sunday 30 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove hosted a barbeque lunch for participants of the Steve Waugh Foundation - The Captain’s Ride 2016.

On Saturday 29 October 2016, in Brisbane city, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Commander, 1st Division and Deployable Joint Force Headquarters, Major General Paul McLachlan AM CSC, attended the 8th/9th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment’s Freedom of Entry Parade to mark the 43rd anniversary of the amalgamation of 8th and 9th Battalions.
