On Friday 19 April 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended, and the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, conducted Investiture Ceremony.
The Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested 74 recipients with Australia Day and Queen’s Birthday Honours and Bravery Awards at Government House, Canberra.
In the morning, Professor Brian Schmidt AC was appointed a Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia for his eminent service and contribution to the field of science.

On Wednesday 17 April 2013, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guest of the Chair of Soldier On, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy AC (Ret’d), attended the launch of ‘For Valour and Gallantry.’
On Saturday 13 April 2013, in Redfern, New South Wales, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as Patron, officially opened the Redfern Jarjum College.
Afterwards, at the University Sports and Aquatic Centre, Darlington, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, as guests of honour, attended the 150th Anniversary Dinner of the Sydney University Football Club.
On Friday 12 April 2013, at the Gardens on Forest, Peakhurst, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as Patron, attended the Botany Bay Australia Day Regatta and Navigator’s Cup presentation.
In San Francisco, the Governor-General met Californian business representatives during an event hosted by the Consul-General, Mr Nigel Warren.
The Governor-General joined the Administrator of the UN Development Programme, Ms Helen Clark, for a working lunch during a visit to New York.
On Thursday 11 April 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Afterwards, in Mudgee, the Administrator officially opened the new Mudgee Town Hall and Library.
Later, at St Matthew’s Catholic School, the Administrator invested Mrs Mary Lovett AM with the insignia of the Member of the Order of Australia.
Australian and American scientists joined the Governor-General and Mr Ellis Rubinstein, President and CEO of the New York Academy of Science, for a roundtable meeting at the Academy to discuss how to capture the benefits of scientific research.
