Ceremonial Welcome and State Lunch for the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam

On Thursday 2 May 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Mr Todd Mercer.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.

Reception for the Investiture of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander

On Wednesday 1 May 2013, at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Red Hill, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Ambassador, Her Excellency Mrs Annemieke Ruigrok, attended a Vin d’Honneur on the occasion of the investiture of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Credentials Ceremonies

On Tuesday 30 April 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received from His Excellency Mr Enoch Nkuruho, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Uganda. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Berti Kawooya (Counsellor). The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Christine Nkuruho.

Australian Migrant and Refugee Women’s Alliance National Conference Dinner

On Monday 29 April 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received the Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr Damien Miller.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Iran, Mr Paul Foley.

Later, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chair of the Australian Migrant and Refugee Women’s Alliance, Mrs Chin Wong, delivered an address at the Australian Migrant and Refugee Women’s Alliance Conference Dinner.

Governor-General visits Begabari Anglicare Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic

In North Waigani, Papua New Guinea, the Governor-General visited an Australian funded health facility that is focused on addressing and preventing cases of HIV/AIDS.

Ms Bryce arrived at the Begabari Anglicare Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic and was met by the National Director of Anglicare, Ms Heni Meki, and the Chairman, Bishop Peter Ramsden, before being invited to see the facilities and services provided to patients.

Governor-General visits Buk Bilong Pikinini Children’s Library

On the final day of a State Visit, the Governor-General met students and staff at Buk Bilong Pikinini Children’s Library, located at the University of Papua New Guinea.

Ms Bryce was welcomed and escorted to the Library by young students in traditional dress. Later, the Governor-General, as Patron of Make A Mark Australia, presented a chequeto the organisation to assist with the purchase of a new mobile library.

Buk Bilong Pikinini provides early childhood development services and educational programs with a focus to increasing the literacy rate in Papua New Guinea.

Welcome Home reception for the third Mateship Trek; State visit to Papua New Guinea

On Friday 26 April 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received the Minister of Industry and Trade in the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, His Excellency Dr Vu Huy Hoang, and the accompanying delegation.

Afterwards, the Administrator hosted a Welcome Home reception for participants in the third Mateship Trek along the Black Cat Trail, Wau to Salamaua, Papua New Guinea, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the World War II campaign.
