Ceremonial Welcome and State Lunch for the President of the Republic of Mozambique

On Friday 15 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, received the Australian (non-resident) High Commissioner to the Republic of Mozambique, Mr Graeme Wilson.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency Armando Emilio Guebuza, and Madam Maria da Luz Dai Guebuza.

Governor-General hosts participants of 2013 National Rally for 1 and 2 Cylinder Cars and Bikes

Over 50 vintage motor vehicles were on show as the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce hosted participants of the 2013 National Rally for 1 and 2 Cylinder Cars and Bikes at Government House, Canberra.

The event also recognised the 50th anniversary of the Veteran and Vintage Car Club of the A.C.T. (VVCCA).

On Thursday 14 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a morning tea for participants of the 2013 National Rally for 1 & 2 Cylinder Cars and Bikes, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Veteran and Vintage Chevrolet Association of Australia.

On Wednesday 13 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the Chief Executive Officer of Contact Inc, Ms Sue Kingwill.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General received the Denmark RSL Youth Achievement Award Winner, Miss Sophie Reeves, accompanied by Mrs Merida Watson.

Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Korea, Mr Bill Paterson PSM.

Governor-General attends Clontarf Foundation event

The role of the Clontarf Foundation as a champion of Indigenous education was recognised by the Governor-General and supporters during an event at Parliament House, Canberra.

Ms Bryce, who is Patron of Clontarf, discussed the education and employment opportunities made possible by the organisation through school and sport programs. Clontarf currently caters for 2800 students in schools across Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Victoria and New South Wales.

Governor-General meets Gender in Defence and Security Leadership Conference delegates

As Commander-in-Chief, the Governor-General met some of the 200 Australian Defence Force and national security delegates attending the ‘Gender in Defence and Security Leadership Conference’ at the National Convention Centre, Canberra.

The conference explores issues related to gender diversity awareness and its building of capability for defence and national security organisations.

Governor-General and Mr Bryce attend Foundation Stone Ceremony

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce marked 100 years since Australia’s capital city was named during a special Centenary of Canberra ceremony at the Foundation Stone on Capital Hill.

Reflecting on this historic occasion, Ms Bryce recalled the words of former Governor-General, Lord Denman, who envisaged Canberra resembling “the city beautiful of our dreams”.

Mr Bryce also recounted the words of Lady Denman, who named the capital city ‘Canberra’.
