Foundation Stone Ceremony; Gender in Defence and Security Leadership Conference afternoon tea; Afternoon tea to mark the visit of Lord and Lady Denman; Clontarf Foundation reception

On Tuesday 12 March 2013, at Capital Hill, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the ACT Chief Minister, Ms Katy Gallagher MLA, attended the Foundation Stone Ceremony, at which the Governor-General reviewed the parade and Mr Bryce recited Lady Denman’s words of 1913.

Governor-General attends AIATSIS International Women's Day event

The Governor-General celebrated the legacy of Australia's Indigenous women during an International Women's Day event at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) in Canberra.

Chair of AIATSIS, Professor Michael Dodson AM, met the Governor-General and introduced her to guests, including the Zimbabwean Co-Minister of State for National Healing, Reconciliation and Integration, Senator Sekai Holland.

Governor-General marks International Women's Day 2013

The Governor-General marked International Women's Day with representatives of Children First Foundation (CFF), Australian Federal Police and Muslim women from the community of East Kilmore, Victoria.

The event celebrated the work of local women and stakeholders who have fostered positive relationships within the community. It also recognised the important support CFF has given to sick children in developing countries since 1999.

During the event, Ms Bryce was presented an IWD-themed mosaic made by women from the Meadow Heights Mosque.

Morning tea for International Women’s Day at the Children First Foundation Farm; Reception for International Women’s Day at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies

On Friday 8 March 2013, at the Children First Foundation Farm, Kilmore East, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Chief Executive Officer of the Children First Foundation, Ms Margaret Smith, attended a morning tea in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Afterwards, at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, Canberra, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chair of AIATSIS, Professor Michael Dodson AM, in recognition of International Women’s Day, attended a reception and presented the Shirley Ann Williams Award.

Morning tea for International Women’s Day; International Women’s Development Agency ‘Half the Sky’ Concert

On Thursday 7 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, in recognition of International Women’s Day, attended a morning tea with the Samoan President of the Pan-Pacific and South East Asian Women’s Association, Dr Papalii Viopapa Annandale, the Director of the Vanuatu Women’s Centre, Ms Merilyn Tahi and representatives from AusAID, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and community and trade organisations.

Opening of ‘Glorious Days: Australia 1913’ Exhibition

On Wednesday 6 March 2013, at the National Museum, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Director of the National Museum, Mr Andrew Sayers AM, officially opened the ‘Glorious Days: Australia 1913’ exhibition, as part of the Centenary of Canberra celebrations.

Earlier, at Government House, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, received the winner of the 2012 Michael Bryce Design Award, Mr Tim Dyer, and the Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Arts and Design, University of Canberra, Dr Michael Jasper.
