Visit to Seymour College; Presentation of the Cancer Council Australia Gold Medal

On Tuesday 26 March 2013, at Seymour College, Glen Osmond, South Australia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Principal, Mrs Anne Johnstone, met with teachers and read to students.

Afterwards, at the Cancer Council South Australia Office, Eastwood, the Governor-General, as guest of the CEO of Cancer Council Australia, Professor Ian Olver AM, presented the Cancer Council Australia Gold Medal to Ms Judith Roberts AO.

Federal Executive Council; Swearing-in Ceremony for new Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries

On Monday 25 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General signed instruments of appointment for Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.

Regional Arts Australia Canberra program launch; Malkara and Cranleigh Schools ‘Hats and High Tea’

On Thursday 21 March 2013, in Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, attended the Regional Arts Australia Canberra program launch.

Afterwards, at the National Gallery of Australia, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the Malkara and Cranleigh Schools ‘Hats and Gloves High Tea’ event.

Governor-General welcomes participants of the 2013 National Schools Constitutional Convention

Over 120 students attending the 2013 National Schools Constitutional Convention in Canberra met the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce at Government House.

Ms Bryce, who previously met delegates in 2011, spoke with the years 11 and 12 students about their exploration of the role of the Constitution in Australia’s democracy.

Governor-General meets Global Voices youth delegates

The Governor-General met 26 Global Voices youth delegates during an event at Government House, Canberra.

The Global Voices program promotes the engagement of young Australians with international diplomacy and policy in Australia and overseas.

Participants will attend international events this year including the Global Security Conference, the G20 Youth Summit and meetings of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

Afternoon tea for Global Voices Youth Delegates; Reception for the 2013 National Schools Constitutional Convention

On Wednesday 20 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, Professor Gillian Triggs.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted an afternoon tea for youth delegates from the Global Voices program.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for attendees of the 2013 National Schools Constitutional Convention.
