On Monday 12 September 2011, at the Clarence Rieger Building, Adelaide, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as guest of the Executive Director, Ms Maria Makrides, visited the Women's and Children's Health Research Institute.

Afterwards, in Adelaide, the Governor-General as guest of the Director, Ms Madge McGuire, visited Catherine House.

Later, at Scotch College, the Governor-General as Patron and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Principal, Mr Tim Oughton, attended a lunch with Yalari students.

St Peter's Cathedral service; Ms Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE 80th birthday celebration; Dinner with the Archbishop of Adelaide

On Sunday 11 September 2011, at St Peter’s Cathedral, Adelaide, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a church service in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of September 11.

Afterwards, at Ayers House, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the 80th birthday celebrations for Ms Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and presented a book ‘80 years of memories’.

7RAR Colours Presentation Parade

On Saturday 10 September 2011, at the Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended the 7th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment Colours Presentation Parade, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, presented the Queen’s and Regimental Colours and delivered an address.

Afterwards, at Government House Adelaide, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR and Mrs Elizabeth Scarce.

National Youth Council of Scouts Australia

On Friday 9 September 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Co-chairs of the National Congress of Australia’s First People, Ms Jody Broun and Mr Les Malezer.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Ilfracombe State School.

Later, the Governor-General, as Chief Scout hosted a reception for the National Youth Council of Scouts Australia.

Indigenous Literacy Day; 75th meeting of the Council for the Order of Australia; National Committees Meeting of UN Women

On Wednesday 7 September 2011, at the Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the launch of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation’s Indigenous Literacy Day, at which the Governor-General delivered an address.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General attended an afternoon tea with the Council for the Order of Australia, and as Chancellor, cut a cake in recognition of the 75th meeting of the Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Industry Group, Ms Heather Ridout.

President of the European Commission

On Monday 5 September 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received PhD student, Ms Freda Talao, from the T.C. Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador to the European Union, the Honourable Dr Brendan Nelson.

Later, the Governor-General received the President of the European Commission His Excellency Mr José Manuel Barroso.
