On Monday 13 October 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Australian High Commissioner-designate to Canada, Mr Justin Brown and Mrs Caroline Brown.

On Saturday 11 October 2008, in South Australia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, toured the Murray Mouth and Lower Lakes region. During the visit, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a morning tea at Goolwa, hosted in their honour by the Mayor of Alexandrina Council, Councillor Kym McHugh. Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a luncheon at Meningie, hosted in their honour by the Mayor of Coorong District Council, Councillor Roger Strother.

On Friday 10 October 2008, at Government House, Adelaide, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE met the Governor of South Australia His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC and Mrs Liz Scarce.

Later, the Governor-General received Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General Commander Craig Pritchard RAN. In the afternoon, at the Hilton Hotel, Adelaide, the Governor-General received the Chair of the Water Security Technical Group, Mr Andrew Beal.

On Thursday 9 October 2008, at The Grand Motel in Mildura, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received a municipality briefing by the Mayor of the Mildura Rural City Council, Councillor John Arnold and the Chief Executive Officer of the Mildura Rural City Council, Mr Phil Pearce.

On Wednesday 8 October 2008, in Mildura, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited the Alfred Deakin Centre and viewed a traditional welcome to country.

On Tuesday 7 October 2008, in Broken Hill, NSW, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a morning tea at the Broken Hill Royal Flying Doctor Service Operations Centre.

On Monday 6 October 2008, at the Riverside Motel, Bourke, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received a brief on irrigation and semi-arid farming by the owner of Prattenville Farm, Mr Tony Thompson.

Afterwards, at St Ignatious Primary School, Bourke, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, in recognition of World Teachers' Day, attended an afternoon tea with the Sisters of Charity and teachers of St Ignatious Primary School. Later, at the Bourke City Council Chambers, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received a briefing on water management in the Murray Darling Basin by the Chairman of the Office of Rural Financial Counselling Service, Mr Cec Dorrington.

Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General received Professor Ross Garnaut AO. Later, the Governor-General received the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Mr Glenn Stevens.

On Thursday 2 October 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Carlos Sanchez De Boado Y De La Valgoma, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Salvador Maspock (Minister-Counsellor), Mr Carlos Aragon (Counsellor) and Captain Eduardo Bernal (Defence Liaison Officer), Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain. The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Elena Torreguitar Delpech.
