On Sunday 9 March 2008, at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith, New South Wales, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC attended the 2008 Australian Rowing Championships and Interstate Regatta and presented the King's and Queen's Cups to the winning crews.

On Friday 7 March 2008, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, was represented at the arrival of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency Mr Marcus Stephen, by Wing Commander Robert McKenzie, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp. Earlier, at the Hellenic Club, Canberra, Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the International Women's Day Breakfast.

On Thursday 6 March 2008, at University House, Australian National University, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation International Leadership Alumni Conference, at which the Governor-General delivered the opening address.

Afterwards the grounds of Government House were open to members of the public to attend The Smith Family Fundraising Open Day.
