On Wednesday 14 May 2008, at Mt Pleasant, Canberra, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the Coral Artillery Memorial Service, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, presented the honour title Coral to 102nd Field Battery, Royal Australian Artillery, and laid a wreath.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador-designate to the Union of Myanmar, Ms Michelle Chan.

Afterwards, at the Great Hall, University of Sydney, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery, attended a performance of the Mass of the Children by the Sydney University Graduate Choir. In the evening, at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended the Opening Dinner of the Future Summit 2008.

On Friday 9 May 2008, at the Sofitel Hotel, Melbourne, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, attended the 2008 Australian Construction Achievement Award Presentation Night, at which the Governor-General, as Patron of Engineers Australia, delivered the opening address and presented an award.

On Wednesday 7 May 2008, the Administrator of the Northern Territory, His Honour Mr Tom Pauling QC and Mrs Tessa Pauling arrived at Government House, Canberra, and remained overnight as houseguests of Their Excellencies, the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery.
